Urdd Eisteddfod begins in Wales

The Urdd National Eisteddfod opens today in Wales! Running until 2 June, it features lots of contributions from the RAS 200 project Astronomy and Geophysics through the Traditional Culture of Wales, including:

  • 11 schools taking part in the main Monday night pavilion competition, performing songs inspired by the theme of Gofod / Space
  • A drop-in art workshop led by Gwenllian Beynon inspired by the planets
  • An exhibition of the Brecon Beacons Dark Sky Reserve art installation, painted by 106 children from 3 local schools.

The official search has also been launched for the Artistic Team to lead the 2020 Urdd and National Eisteddfod opening concert, with Astronomy and Geophysics as the main theme inspired by RAS200. Contact the RAS for more information or to get involved.
